About KATLO

Best for: families or friend groups of up to six, with couples seeking a proper Caribbean escape a close second.

KATLO is a 2023 Bali Catamaran, and her standout feature is a generous master cabin that genuinely sets her apart from comparable boats in her class. Three cabins sleep six guests comfortably, with crew keeping to their own aft quarters so the whole boat feels like yours. She is based in the British Virgin Islands, one of the world's most rewarding cruising grounds, and Captain Calvin le Roux has the local knowledge and 15,000 nautical miles of experience to build an itinerary around what your group actually wants.

Chef Katie Hopwood trained at Ashburton Culinary School and brings six years of cooking for charter guests to the galley, drawing on local and global cuisines and tailoring every meal to the group on board. On the water, a floating mat, two sea scooters, a ZUP board and four fishing rods give active groups plenty to get into. Katie also holds her Divemaster certification, so snorkelling and underwater exploration are genuinely part of what this crew offers, not just an afterthought.

Guest reviews

I would like to reflect on the week in paradise and wine consumption...we always had enough! From the food to the friendship - nothing short of memorable! You guys were wonderful to set up everything that we did each day - we offer our apologies now for everything we should not have done :)

Every meal was wonderful, thank you Julianna! We are the pirates in paradise! So glad you put up with us and our costumes, but it was fun to have them at Willy T's!!

Thank you for an unforgettable trip! Our first time in the BVI, you offered excellent suggestions of places to see and intuitively planned a smooth and efficient itinerary for us. Julianna – every meal was better than the last, and you were so kind to allow our budding teenage chefs engage with you in the kitchen. You truly have a gift with culinary talent. Your variety, flavor, and presentation is unmatched. Florian, you expertly and confidently navigated our journey with perfect suggestions on where to go. Thank you for being so willing to teach our kids about sailing, and the many wakeboarding trips you took them on were a highlight of the trip. You both provided wonderfully hospitality and made us feel at home as we spent our first Christmas away from home. We enjoyed having Christmas dinner with you! Thank you for a perfect week. We wish you both the best in your travels! Stay in Touch!

Good to know

We want to make sure you are well prepared and informed for your trip. Here are a few things you might want to know before you set off.
An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an amount paid to the yacht before your charter. It's a fund to cover expenses such as food & drink eaten on board, fuel and mooring fees. At the end of your charter, you’ll receive a detailed document showing how the APA was spent, and any remaining balance will be refunded to you. if in doubt about what is included, ask your HELM broker.
The Captain will let you know if you're about to overspend and discuss your next steps, which wil generally be a bank transfer to top up the funds.
We recommend (10-15% for the Med) (15-20% for the Caribbean/Bahamas) of your charter fee, which will be split evenly among the crew (it's a nice touch to bring a blank envelope or a thank you card in advance).
We'll share your Captain's details with you a few weeks before your charter. We can set up a group chat with your group and the captain to discuss plans before you go.
