The primary sailing season in the south Ionian runs from early May through October, and is generally blessed with pleasantly warm and sunny weather, gentle breezes and calm waters, favourable for an easy sail.
Temperatures range from the mid 20s to mid-30s C (mid 70s to mid 80s F), the winds are light to moderate, averaging between 10 and 15 knots, making it ideal for an easy and enjoyable sailing trip.
The sea is usually calm, with minimal chop and little swell, making it a comfortable sailing experience.
South Ionian winds are mostly light and variable, coming from the west or north. Calm mornings often turn to afternoons blessed by mild sailing winds which die down around sunset. This makes it an ideal destination for all to enjoy a sailing holiday, whether a beginner on your first charter yacht or an experienced skipper looking for a more relaxed and stress-free sailing experience. The sea is usually very calm, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving.
Across South Ionian, the warm and sunny weather during the main sailing season provides ample opportunities to enjoy the beaches, explore the coastline, and visit local villages and towns. Marinas in Lefkas
Marina Lefkas Enveloped by the town and sitting just off the Lefkada canal, Lefkas Marina is the gateway to the southern Ionian.
The Lefkada marina is large and well protected, while the town is charming, with paved alleyways and a load of waterfront bars and restaurants. The Agia Mavra floating bridge guards the northern entrance to the canal and the marina.

Kefalonia Among the newer charter bases in the Ionian, Kefalonia is a great starting point for the more adventurous sailor, or those a little bored of the shuffle up and down the Lefkas canal.
Sami is a large, well-sheltered port town on the east coast of Kefalonia, just south of Agia Effimia.
Cleopatra Marina, Preveza Just across from Preveza Marina, Cleopatra is a small marina with a large boatyard.
Very near the airport, but quite secluded - a couple of restaurants but not much in the way of provisioning.
A few nice yachts based here, and a good strategic spot halfway between Lefkas and Corfu.
